When we talk or hear about the word “diet” many times we think the word is related to losing weight.
This well-known word has several meanings, and yes, one of its definitions refers to the type of food we eat to lose weight or it could also be referring to a specific diet for medical purposes.
But there is a different definition which is very interesting “the kind of food that a person, animal or community habitually eats. (Oxford dictionary)
If we take into account this last definition we see how all living beings have one way or another a type of diet that would be particular, because its type of organism demands it, or because they chose it as is the case with us human beings.
And this definition matches the origins of the word Diet, from Greece “Diaita” meaning “a way of life”.
Therefore, if a person decides to be vegan, it is a way of life that not only contains what he eats but why he eats it.
If a person does not want pesticides or certain chemical agents in their food, they are deciding a way of life by the way they eat.
These concepts and ways of living should be respected. Each of us has the right to decide
what to eat and what not to eat.
But it is advisable to have the right information so the decision about the type of "diet" to follow will result in a healthy body which also helps the mind to be healthy.
For this, it is important to familiarize yourself with the most important elements of reconstruction and renewal of our body.
No matter what diet you decide to follow, the elements to reconstruct and renew your body will be the same. What will change is where or how you are going to get them.
In fact, no matter what diet one is following, we must give our body the nutrients it needs to renew properly.
These elements may seem very complicated but they are very basic elements which we can even see them on the labels of food products in supermarkets and markets.
An example would be the word “fats”.
We grew up with the idea that they are bad but today scientific researches are proving how necessary and important they are.
However, if you do not have the complete information, it may be that eating only fats causes problems in your body. So it’s important to educate ourselves when deciding what to eat.
My purpose is to help familiarize ourselves with these terms in a simple way so that we can use them whenever we want and whenever we are.
